Question: Why don't you clean their feet? Especially the ones who are damaged? There was one where it looked like you were applying bandages on top of the cows stool... or on the foot where there were stool...

This farm is SO cool. My ex brother-in-law was a dairy farm worker. I was astonished/appalled by the amount of yuck everywhere, and the amount of damage to the cows. This set-up is pretty miraculous in comparison.

  • Sun Flower
    Sun Flower

That farm should get medal 🏅 so other farms could embody how they are supposed to treat their animals.

  • Sun Flower
    Sun Flower

WOW. The first farm I've ever seen that is actually cleaner. Smh

  • Sun Flower
    Sun Flower

Listen these cows are all sick. I used to LITERALLY spend the whole entire day looking at about 5-7 cows roam around on CLEAN grass about 3 times a year right in front of my great grandparents porch. They weren't salivating or drooling nor did they have dirty feet...they didn't even stink or smell bad. They had a large area to move about freely. If farmers are going to treat their livestock like that, then they should limit the number of cows people have at their farms. If you can't take care of so many cows....then don't have them! Cut down the numbers so they can be treated humanely. They should investigate farms and if cows have wet feet that's citation. That's basically like having and STD when a genital is leaking. So if their feet are wet/dirty and they are drooling like that...for Pete's sake, take them out of the mill so they can heal. Put them back in when they get better. GOD SEES all these things and I'm sure he's crying right now seeing these animals like this.

  • Sun Flower
    Sun Flower

I don't know why you can't just rinse off the area before you start treating them. Not even with a hose, just a spray bottle AT LEAST. You can't spare an extra minute to clean the area real quick? These cows are plagued with the SAME issue over and over. Injured hoofs because of mushy mudd filthy ground. It's common sense to AT LEAST spray the area with a spray bottle. It's basic kindness. Just because you didn't learn it at veterinary school doesn't mean you don't have common sense. At your own twist to helping them. It DOES make a different to just spray the area with CLEAN water before you work on them. It's not a waste of time to do that for them.

Oh, I just love the foot wash for the cows, and the hoover for the barn floors. Preventive measures beat unwanted problem any day. And I rest easier knowing the cows are getting clean facilities in which to spend their lives. No one likes a dirty house. I hope this dairy farmer will also include a car wash style shower for the cows themselves. No one likes the feel of itchy, dirty skin. It's a great mood elevator and morale booster to have a good and regular wash.

Hi Graham, you have a flat cutting disk for most of the hoof. Where you cut out the middle part, why don’t you get a cone shaped grinder? It would save your hands and you have invented a new tool for hoof trimming. Love your accent. My husband s family is from Glasgow. And trying to figure where in Glasgow.

We (my 3 y/o and I) try to watch every week and love how you help cattle. This robotic milk farm is an amazing operation but I wonder what the cost is of something like this? It can’t be cheap but if it saves on salaries for two or three people it may be worth it over a few years providing the cattle don’t destroy the slurry scraper 🤣

  • Jennifer Boush
    Jennifer Boush

LOVE this! I grew up on a dairy farm, and we milked 30 cows and everything was manual, manual, manual! Carrying milk bucket by bucket to the milk house, shoveling out the gutters, feeding. I really wish my Dad was still alive to see how far farming has come ❤

  • AliKat YEG

The robot milker was awesome. I always wondered how that would work. Somehow I wasn't picturing teats being laser-tracked but it was super effective. Wouldn't the slurry robots get kicked or trampled? I guess they don't move fast enough to startle a cow, but I bet a frisky calf or bull would take it on lol. I bet repairs on a giant poo Roomba wouldn't be cheap. Tom and the Ginger Warrior would probably love to have that big airy shed, even without all the mechanized stuff. I enjoy watching the Pemberton farm as is, but their lives would definitely be easier if they had some upgrades.
